My Publications
You can find my publishing history here. If it's got an ISBN, I'll include it.
01
Hamlet's Ghost (2008)
After learning how to write screenplays from 2000-2005, I went back to the drawing board with a novel. For a short time, I had an agent who tried to find this a home. I expected an agent to help tighten the story, so when she started to get it onto the desks of real publishers, I lost my nerve and didn't renew her contract. I should have hired a professional editor, but instead I self-published. I still like the story, even though I know understand the flaws. Now unpublished.
02
Cassandra's Curse (2009)
Sloppy and a bit rushed, this was a pretty tight murder mystery. It started as a screenplay in 2000, then a film in 2002, and a novel a few years later. I was simply dabbling with being an author in these days.
03
Ulyssey's Bow (2010)
I learned a lot during this book. Although now unpublished, I still think it is a pretty tight story based on the tale of Odysseus.
04
Atlas's Burden (2012)
Now unpublished, I simply tried to do too much with this book. It tried to do the paranormal Minnesota stuff while also being a Vietnam War story. I had 4 time periods. It should have been 4 novels. Now unpublished.
05
Pan's Apprentice (2013)
A few months after publishing it, I HATED what I'd done. After selling only a few dozen copies, I pulled the plug and unpublished it. It was a lesson George RR Martin/HBO also learned: Know where the story is going!
06
The Fire Handler (2017)
Originally self-published with Lura Publications, this version gave me confidence in the Dream Catcher Chronicles idea. Alas, Kiersten Hall at Fox Pointe convinced me to clean it up and republish it. Glad I did. This version is 1st person, so it's an "alternate" telling. Now unpublished.
07
An Appointed Time
Now republished under Jael Dubya as "Examining Gospel Timelines" this color-coded sequential gospel was a personal project that turned into printed copies for the folks in my Bible studies.
08
Tales from the Haunted Valley (2018)
With the return of Creative Writing, I wanted to put the stories together for the kids. We also used it as a fundraiser to buy books for the class library. Alas, the elective only returned for a few years. Now, the book is unpublished.
09
Examining Christmas (2019)
Originally published under the name Jason Lee Willis, this book is republished under Jael Dubya (JLW) and can be found on my other website:
10
Tales from the Haunted Valley 2 (2019)
I was a pretty proud papa with this collection of Maple River stories. My short story featured Andrew and Sara Good Thunder. With the loss of the creative writing elective, this book is now unpublished.
11
The Wintermaker (2019)
Originally self-published, Covid-19 gave me time to rethink the series (I only sold a few dozen copies). This book will also be republished through Lura Publications.
12
Examining Moses (2020)
First published under Jason Lee Willis, I moved my Christian Bible studies to another website and publishing name just to keep my two branches of publishing separate.
13
Cooked to Death 5 (2020)
A crime, a recipe, and a restaurant...those are the ingredients needed to be part of Rhonda Gilliland's Foodie Anthology, Cooked to Death. My short story "My Brother's Keeper" told the story of the Red Cow Burger of the Amboy Cottage Cafe and the theft of an entire town.
14
The Alchemist's Map (2021)
My first "professionally" published book through Fox Pointe. Chelsea Farr did the editing and Becca Hudson designed the cover.
15
Examining the Beloved Disciple (2022)
Published as Jael Dubya, this is my fourth Bible study. You can find this on my other website:
16
Tales of the Blue Earth (2022)
A collection of my short stories as well as public domain articles that helped me research the books in the DCC and Alchemist Chronicles. A fun "accessory" book to my novels.
17
The Alchemist's Stone (2023)
The second book in the Alchemist Chronicles, featuring the story of Pierre-Charles LeSueur.
18
The Wintermaker (2023)
Book 2 in the Dreamcatcher Chronicles. Originally released in 2019 and re-leased through Lura Publications following COVID.
19
The Tall Tale of Le Sueur (2023)
My "kids" book version of the life of the famed woodsrunner. Perhaps he inspired the tales of Bunyan?
20
The Alchemist's Ring (2024)
Book 3 in the ALchemist Chronicles continues the tale of Baron Lahontan's journey from the frontier and into the Caribbean.
21
It's Not Easy Being a Genius (2024)
A light-hearted look at the remarkable life of Jean Nicholas NIcollet.
